ANALYSIS

Preparation of in-depth, context-specific analysis to understand the complex links between climate change, environmental degradation, and risks to peace and security, with particular attention to justice and the inclusion of marginalized groups. This work involves context analysis to capture the political, social, economic, and environmental dynamics shaping risks and opportunities; risk assessments that identify drivers of conflict, instability, or exclusion related to climate and environmental factors; and actor and policy mapping to understand the roles, relationships, and influence of stakeholders across sectors and levels. Analyses also focus on identifying entry points for cooperation between diverse actors, including governments, communities, civil society, and international partners.

TRAINING

Design and delivery of tailored learning experiences to build the capacity of practitioners, policymakers, and communities to address climate- and environment-related risks to peace and security. Trainings combine knowledge sharing with interactive exercises and draw on proven approaches and tools such as peace responsiveness, which ensures that environmental and climate action contributes positively to peace and stability; conflict sensitivity and the do no harm approach, which integrate awareness of potential unintended consequences into planning and decision-making; and game-based learning and other interactive methodologies to deepen engagement and retention. Trainings are enriched with context-specific case studies and scenario exercises directly related to the thematic areas of expertise.

DIALOGUE

Design and facilitation of outcome-oriented dialogues to bring together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds — from high-level government officials and international actors to community leaders and civil society organizations. These processes are structured to build shared understanding and trust around climate, environmental, and security challenges, and to generate concrete outcomes, strategies, and agreements. Support is also provided for conflict mediation processes where environmental or climate-related tensions are contributing to instability. A strong emphasis is placed on inclusive spaces that ensure the voices of marginalized and underrepresented groups are heard, respected, and integrated into decision-making.
